Appointment of Public Access Deputy Commissioner
Victorian Information Commissioner Sean Morrison is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Penny Eastman as Public Access Deputy Commissioner by Her Excellency the Governor of Victoria.
Ms Eastman has commenced a five-year term as Deputy Commissioner beginning on 10 September, 2024.
Ms Eastman has extensive experience working in the Public Access team at OVIC, having served since 2019 as the Manager and then the Assistant Commissioner, Public Access Reviews and Regulation. She most recently acted as Public Access Deputy Commissioner between May and August of this year.
Before joining OVIC, Ms Eastman held roles with Commonwealth agencies, focused on information dissemination, data management, regulatory compliance, event coordination, and policy and capability development.
OVIC is an independent regulator that serves to protect the information rights of Victorians and oversee fair access to public sector information, its proper use and protection. As Deputy Commissioner, Ms Eastman will continue to oversee proper administration of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic).
