Local Government Authorities – Information Security Obligations

This resource provides council-specific guidance on applicability under Part 4 of the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic) (PDP Act).

Is this only relevant to Local Government Authorities?

While councils are excluded they typically incur information security obligations under the Part 4 of the PDP Act, given the functions and activities they are responsible for.

This set of circumstances is unique to councils and is not applicable to all organisations with Part 4 obligations under the PDP Act.

General guidance on implementing the Victorian Protective Data Security Standards can be found here.
