Victorian Law Week: Privacy and information security – what you need to know
The Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 – also known as the PDP Act – sets out the privacy rights of individuals, and how Victorian government organisations should handle and protect the personal information they hold.
During Victorian Law Week, OVIC is hosting a presentation on PDP Act basics, including:
- your privacy rights in Victoria
- how the Victorian PDP Act is different to the federal Privacy Act 1988
- how you can access and correct information organisations hold about you
- what a data breach is
- how you can manage privacy risks
- how OVIC can help you if you think your privacy has been breached.
This event is open to anyone wanting to learn more about the PDP Act in Victoria.
