Review decisions

Since 2019, OVIC has published de-identified FOI review decisions made by the Information Commissioner or Public Access Deputy Commissioner under section 49P of the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic) (FOI Act) on both OVIC’s and the Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII) (www.austlii.edu.au) websites.

By publishing a representative selection the review decisions made by OVIC’s Commissioner’s each month, we aim to promote transparency in our decision making and to improve awareness and understanding of the administration and operation of the FOI Act.

Use our Advanced Decision Search to locate decisions by specific FOI Act exemptions, topics or agencies or refer below for all published decisions by month and year. Summaries of certain decisions are also available here.

Please note, it is open to the relevant parties to appeal the decisions made by OVIC’s Commissioners and some of the decisions published may have been subsequently subject to review by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal or other relevant jurisdictions.
