Information Privacy Principle 2 – Pocket guide
The pocket guide assists organisations to navigate the use and disclosure of personal information under Information Privacy Principle 2 (IPP 2).
Under IPP 2, personal information can only be used and disclosed for the primary purpose for which it was collected or for a secondary purpose that would be reasonably expected, unless one of the limited circumstances detailed in IPP 2.1 applies.
The pocket guide contains a summary of IPP 2, the primary purpose rule, each exception, and key tips when using and disclosing personal information.
The pocket guide is a quick reference tool. For comprehensive guidance on the IPPs organisations should refer to the Guidelines to the Information Privacy Principles.
