What is information security?

Information security refers to the protection of public sector information against unauthorised access, use and disclosure. Victorian public sector organisations have obligations to ensure they protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the information they hold.

What is OVIC's role in information security?

OVIC is responsible for developing the Victorian Protective Data Security Framework and Victorian Protective Data Security Standards. These outline the information security obligations of Victorian public sector organisations. OVIC also monitors compliance with the Framework and Standards.
