Launch of the Victorian Protective Data Security Standards (Version 2.0)

Background

Following the 2018 submissions of the first Protective Data Security Plans by Victorian Public Sector agencies, OVIC’s Information Security Unit (ISU) completed a comprehensive review of the Victorian Protective Data Security Framework and Standards.

As part of this review, the ISU sought feedback from a wide variety of stakeholders. Updates to the Standards have culminated in a version 2.0 release, presenting a streamlined and easier-to-understand set of requirements.

In October 2019, this revised version of the Standards was agreed to by the Special Minister of State, the Honourable Gavin Jennings, and issued by the Victorian Information Commissioner, Sven Bluemmel. To read the Standards v2.0 see here.
